ProAll International Manufacturing Ltd., located in Olds, AB, is seeking a Director of Operations to oversee the entire manufacturing operation, ensuring the efficient, cost-effective, and safe production of quality products for our customers. This leadership role is responsible for driving operational excellence through adoption of our Materials Processing Business and Operating systems. Utilizing lean manufacturing methodologies across all production processes, including supply chain, material flow, quality control, inventory management, the Director of Operations will deliver performance to all production and financial targets. Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, Business Administration or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in manufacturing or operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of operational achievement in a manufacturing environment is considered essential.
- Commercial experience with a significant part of this served at senior management level.
- Experience in managing a fast-moving manufacturing facility (preferably engineering) including supply chain & quality functions.
- Demonstrate success in leading and developing a team.
- A strong motivator with excellent communication skills, you will be fully conversant on lean principles and have demonstrated the ability to apply lean techniques in your career to date.
- Proven track record of consistently meeting financial targets.
- Proficiency in Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) systems, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, and other production management tools.
- Familiarity with automation technologies and industry 4.0 trends is desirable.
Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership
- Lead, manage, and optimize daily manufacturing operations to meet production goals, safety standards, and quality requirements.
- Act as an integral part of the sites S&OP process to ensure common understanding of capacity, build schedule and supply constraints.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve production efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure Build to Schedule and On-Time Delivery targets are met.
- Direct all aspects of manufacturing, including sourcing and supplier management, production control, manufacturing engineering, materials and inventory control, production scheduling, quality assurance, production.
- Drive the Zero Harm safety culture and ensure operations comply with all health, safety, and environmental standards and regulatory requirements.
- Lead the Zero Defects strategy to ensure Total Quality Management across all operational functions, both administrative and production based.
- Cooperate with the wider Terex Materials Processing Group in relation to the implementation of manufacturing strategies and other relevant duties.
- Ensure full Operations involvement and participation in New Product Development activities.
Process Improvement
- Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing principles, and standard Terex MP problem solving and kaizen tools to drive operational efficiencies.
- Review production workflows, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), and recommend process optimizations to reduce downtime, enhance productivity, and minimize costs.
- Implement automation and technological advancements to enhance production capability and overall operational performance.
Team Leadership and Development
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of operations managers, supervisors, and staff. Build a collaborative and high-performance culture in line with our MP Excellence Business System.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and create development plans for direct reports to build team capabilities and drive accountability.
- Promote an inclusive, and collaborative working environment that aligns with Terex’s values and diversity, equity, and inclusion goals.
Financial
- Develop and manage the operations budget, ensuring cost control and optimal resource allocation.
- Monitor operational expenditures and identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising production quality or safety.
- Deliver performance to efficiency, absorption, manufacturing spend and NWC targets
Reporting and Communication
- Must adhere to standard MP reporting cadence expectations to senior and executive leadership teams on key metrics such as safety incidents, quality and delivery metrics and cost management.
- Communicate effectively with other departments (e.g., Engineering, Sales, HR) to align operational objectives with business goals.
